Gucci Tornabuoni YA120510

The Gucci Tornabuoni in lilac.

Some women would rather not wear a watch.  The very word invokes images of a heavy metal wristband swinging from their arm, one which doesn’t match their elegant style and delicate wrists.  For these women, a “timepiece” is much more suitable.  Timepieces are also watches, that’s true, but the word is more suitable for stylish and feminine timekeepers such as this one. It’s the Gucci Tornabuoni YA120510, and it is quite a lady.

The features:  A thin, polished band of stainless steel and lilac-colored dial create the look.  Two oval designs on either side of the square dial are repeated near the clasp for a balanced, understated design that is the Gucci mainstay.  Lovely details on the dial, such as the pattern overlay (reminiscent of the Gucci quilted purse) and four diamonds add sparkle and interest.  A sapphire scratch-resistant crystal protects the dial and eliminates reflections.  Tornabuoni is also waterproof to a depth of 30 meters.  Gucci is a trusted brand made in Switzerland, and their watches are made to last.  This model is ready to live up to that promise.

The fashion:  What stands out most in this timepiece is it’s lilac color.  Legions of other watches dutifully look out with their black, white, and mother-of-pearl faces, ready to take on the serious business of keeping time, but this playful watch wants to have a little fun.  It’s perfect for the woman who already owns a timepiece that goes with everything, and is looking for something fresh and colorful to wear with the purples, blues and greens in her wardrobe.  Today’s fashion trends allow for play and mixing, so it would not be a challenge to find ways to wear this watch, as long as the wearer is comfortable with purple.  Of course, one could always pair it with black, white, tan, or other neutrals since it’s only a smattering of color.  And with Gucci, the line between jewelry and watch is blurred, allowing them to go great with bracelets.

How much?  $950 will yield you this timepiece named after a famous Florence street.  Tornabuoni.  It sounds as luxurious as it looks.

Tornabuoni YA120510 Pros:

  • Elegant, stylish look
  • Scratch-resistant sapphire crystal that is also anti-reflective
  • 24 month warranty
  • Waterproof to 30 m
  • Sizable

  • Telling accurate time could be a challenge with no numbers on the face
  • Some people may not like the lilac color
This timepiece would be a great addition to a stylish woman’s collection.  It has personality and flair, and although it would not fit every woman’s style, it complements many of today’s current colors and fashion trends.
