I-Gucci YA114208 Digital Men’s Watch

In 2011 Gucci has brought out a new digital luxury sport watch among many designer analogue models, the I-Gucci Digital Men’s Watch YA114208.

This model in the I-Gucci 114 series has a wristband of dark blue rubber with Gucci “GG” embossing and a deployment clasp, for a maximum wrist size of 8 inches. It has an anti-reflective scratch-resistant sapphire crystal face that protects a gray digital display dial set in a gunmetal PVD-coated stainless steel case.

Like all Gucci watches the Swiss quartz movement assures quality timekeeping, this time in LCD digital display. The I-Gucci YA114208 shows your local time on the lower half of the dial and another time zone of your choice on the upper half of the dial, accompanied by a city code for easy reference. The layout and size of the numbers are creatively manipulated to make the most of the round dial on which it is shown. You have the choice of a 12 or 24 hour format, an alarm feature, and a date display at the 3 o’clock position.

The YA114208 is categorized as a men’s watch, but there are only a few differences between it and the I-Gucci YA114403 and YA114404, which are both considered watches for women. First, the YA114208 is size extra large and its case has a 44 millimeter (1.7 inch) diameter, while the YA114403 and YA114404 are size medium and with a case 40 millimeters (1.57 inches) in diameter. Second, the YA114403 and YA114404 have white and pink wristbands, respectively. So, really, anyone can wear the I-Gucci YA114208 if they like the color and don’t mind a larger watch, regardless of gender.

Although the rubber wristband and digital rather than analog display make this timepiece look casually durable it is still about as water-proof as a lot of luxury watches, which means it’s water resistant to 30 meters (98 feet).

Other variations of the watch include the YA114207, with black digital dial and black rubber wristband, and the YA114212, with black digital dial and red rubber wristband.

The retail price is $1395, and that may seem like a lot of money for a timepiece that isn’t a more traditional analogue watch. The Gucci I-Gucci Digital Men’s Watch YA114208 is expensive, but it also has an air of casualness that makes it great for everyday wear, and the iconic Gucci embossing on the strap that marks it as a designer timepiece suitable for more formal occasions. And if it’s by Gucci, you know it was made from high quality materials by skilled craftsmen.
